The Extended Range Sidemount course takes sidemount diving to a technical level – focusing on redundancy, balance, and precision in a technical configuration. You will learn to dive Sidemount with 3 or more cylinders while still maintaining perfect trim, bouyancy and cylinder positioning.

What You’ll Do in the SSI Extended Range Sidemount Course
Academics & Dive Planning
- Dive planning for multi-cylinder sidemount diving
- Cylinder labeling, balancing, and gas switching procedures
- Streamlining and trim techniques specific to sidemount
Confined Water / Skill Training
- Equipment assembly and sidemount-specific configuration
- Flow checks, gas sharing, and S-drills
- Cylinder removal and replacement (surface, underwater, and
no-mount) - Buoyancy, trim, and propulsion skills (flutter, frog, backwards kicks)
- Handling failures: mask, inflator, regulator, buoyancy system…
Open Water Training Dives (4 dives)
- Controlled descents/ascents in full sidemount configuration
- Stage cylinder management and valve drills
- SAC rate checks and backup equipment handling
- SMB deployment and simulated emergency procedures
