    What You’ll Do in the SSI DPV Diving Course


    Dry Land Training

    Before hitting the water, you’ll build a solid foundation with essential land-based skills:

    • Equipment Assembly – Learn how to properly set up your DPV system
    • Pre-Dive checks – Ensure everything is functioning safely and smoothly before the dive
    • Equipment Care – Understand how to maintain your DPV for reliability and longevity

    In-Water Skills
    Once you’re in the water, you’ll practice a full range of hands-on skills, including:

    • Tow-Cord Adjustment – Optimize your setup for comfort and control
    • Buoyancy Check with DPV – Dial in your trim while managing propulsion
    • DPV Positioning & Turns – Navigate with precision using standard and 360° turning techniques
    • Switching Arms – Maintain control of a DPV using either arm
    • Surface Air Consumption Rate Check – Monitor and evaluate your gas consumption with a DPV
    • Runaway DPV Drill – Learn how to safely handle a malfunctioning DPV
    • Flooded DPV Recovery – Practice recovery techniques in case of a flooded unit
    • Gas-Sharing Ascent – Team-based emergency protocols while managing a DPV
