The SSI Independent Diving Course is designed to empower divers with the skills and confidence to dive independently, whether alone or with a partner. This course focuses on self-sufficiency, advanced planning, and safety, ensuring divers can manage their own dives effectively.

Prerequisites

Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
Certification: Deep Diving, Night Diving, Navigation & Stress and Rescue
Experience: A minimum of 75 logged dives is necessary to demonstrate adequate diving experience.
Equipment: A redundant equipment configuration must be used

Course

Theory Sessions: In-depth theoretical knowledge covering dive planning, risk management, emergency procedures, and self-sufficiency.
Confined Water Training: Practice in a controlled environment focusing on self-rescue techniques, use of redundant air systems, and equipment management. (1 dive)
Open Water Dives: A series of open water dives to apply and refine skills, with an emphasis on dive planning, navigation, and problem-solving. (3 dives)
Assessment: Ongoing evaluation throughout the course, culminating in a final practical and theoretical exam to demonstrate proficiency in independent diving.
