The SSI Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Course introduces divers to the exciting world of underwater scooters, enhancing their ability to explore more territory with less effort. This course covers the safe use, maintenance, and operation of DPVs, as well as techniques for efficient and enjoyable dives using these devices.

Prerequisites

Age:
Must be at least 12 years old.
Certification:
Requires an Open Water Diver certification or equivalent from a recognized training agency.
Experience:
No specific number of logged dives required, but divers should be comfortable in the water and have good buoyancy control.

Course

Theory Sessions:
Comprehensive theoretical knowledge covering the mechanics of DPVs, dive planning, risk management, battery safety, and emergency procedures.
Confined Water Training:
Skills practice in a controlled environment focusing on basic DPV handling, buoyancy control while using a DPV, air sharing, and managing common issues. (1 dive)
Open Water Dives:
A series of open water dives to apply skills learned, with an emphasis on navigation, group diving techniques, and maintaining situational awareness while using a DPV. (2 dives)
Assessment:
Ongoing evaluation throughout the course, with a final practical and theoretical assessment to demonstrate proficiency in DPV operation.
