The SSI Gas Blender Course is a specialized training program designed for individuals interested in learning how to blend gases for scuba diving use safely. This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to blend enriched air nitrox and other gas mixtures using various blending methods.

Prerequisites

Age:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Certification:
No specific certification is required to enroll in the Gas Blender Course, although a basic understanding of scuba diving and gas principles is beneficial.
Experience:
While prior experience with scuba diving and gas management is helpful, it’s not mandatory.
Equipment:
Gas blending equipment will be provided during the course, but participants may choose to bring their own if available.

Course 

Theory Sessions:
In-depth theoretical knowledge covering gas laws, gas mixing techniques, cylinder handling, compressor operations, and safety procedures related to gas blending.
Practical Training:
Hands-on practice in gas blending techniques, including partial pressure blending, continuous blending, and membrane systems.
Equipment Maintenance:
Instruction on the proper maintenance and care of gas blending equipment to ensure safety and reliability.
Safety Procedures:
Emphasis on safety protocols, including gas analysis, labeling, and documentation, to prevent errors and ensure gas quality.
Assessment:
Continuous assessment throughout the course, with a final practical examination to evaluate gas blending skills and knowledge.

Upon successful completion of the Gas Blender Course, participants will be certified to blend gases for recreational and technical diving use. This certification allows individuals to work as gas blenders at dive centers or fill stations, providing divers with custom gas blends tailored to their specific diving needs.
